The Abia Patriots (TAP) has commended the administration of Governor Alex Otti for the successful implementation of the Abia Green Shuttle Service, describing the initiative as a transformative leap in sustainable urban transportation and a landmark achievement for the state.

The group in a statement praised the free inter-city and intra-city transportation scheme, noting that it has brought relief and excitement to residents across Abia State since its introduction.

According to TAP, the Abia Green Shuttle Service stands out as a symbol of innovation and forward-thinking governance, aligning the state with global best practices in environmental sustainability, modernization, and economic efficiency.

The electric buses deployed under the initiative are fully air-conditioned and fitted with USB charging ports and security cameras.

TAP emphasized that the buses were deliberately designed to accommodate persons with disabilities, underscoring the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and social equity.

“The Abia Green Shuttle Service is more than a transport project; it is a bold statement of intent.

“It reflects a government that prioritizes the environment, public health, safety, and economic wellbeing of its people,” the statement reads.

TAP highlighted several benefits of the project, including zero-emission transportation that significantly reduces carbon emissions and environmental pollution.

The group also noted the health advantages associated with cleaner air, as well as enhanced passenger safety made possible by modern surveillance and security features installed in the buses.

From an economic standpoint, the Patriots observed that the free shuttle service reduces transportation costs for residents, thereby easing financial pressure on households and stimulating productivity and economic growth within the state.

Reacting to the initiative, Secretary General of The Abia Patriots, Mazi Adindu Madumere, described the project as historic and pioneering.

“Abia State is the first to launch electric buses in Nigeria, and we’re confident other states will follow suit,”Madumere said.

He further called on residents to take collective responsibility for protecting and sustaining the service.

“We urge Abians to see this initiative as their own. Proper use and care of the buses will ensure the longevity and continued success of this laudable project,” he added.

The group concluded by applauding Governor Alex Otti’s vision of building a modern, eco-friendly Abia State and urged citizens to continue supporting policies and programs aimed at sustainable development.

“Together, we can make Abia a model for sustainable development in Nigeria,” the statement reads.
