USA -1 goal v Chile @ 23/20

The USA were hoping for more than a run to the last 16 of their home World Cup this summer, and while the Star and Stripes fell to Belgium in a 4-1 defeat, there is a good buzz surrounding the nation. 

Mauricio Pochettino is a top-level manager when it comes to the international scene and the USA are a serious force in the context of a St Louis friendly with Chile. 

The USMNT hammered Peru 4-1 in Florida on Saturday, with Pochettino’s men recording 70% possession and limiting the visitors to just five efforts on goal. 

It is a changed roster for the USA, but Justin Ellis, Giovanni Reyna, Malik Tillman and Tyler Adams all impressed in the comfortable success over Peru and Pochettino’s men are fancied to repeat the trick against Chile. 

Chile were poor when reduced to nine men and losing 1-0 to Canada in Ontario on Sunday and that doesn’t look like ideal preparation for this clash.

Paris FC Women or draw double chance v Arsenal Women @ 7/5 

It hasn’t been the start to the season Arsenal Women would have been hoping for more and they head into this European clash off the back of Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

A 1-0 loss to a top Chelsea side is no disgrace, but added to draws against Crystal Palace and Manchester United and it’s not a good look for boss Renee Slegers. 

Arsenal turn their attention to the Champions League when they head for Paris FC on Wednesday evening.

Clearly, the Gunners have a clear class edge on the Parisians, but the north Londoners needed a last-gasp strike to beat HB Koge 1-0 in their opening European contest and the Gunners have scored only three goals in their last five matches. 

Arsenal are red-hot favourites to win in Paris, but a lack of goals is a major concern and the Londoners can be opposed.

Acca of the day

Mexico, Southend, Tamworth treble @ 23/5 

Mexico were clearly the better side when drawing 1-1 with Colombia on Sunday and anything like that level of performance will be enough to beat a poor Peru side in New Jersey.

Southend have scored 16 goals in their last five matches and the Essex side can make it three wins in four games at Eastleigh. The home side were crushed 4-1 at Harrogate last time out and another defeat awaits.

Tamworth can take a golden opportunity to bounce back from last weekend’s 5-1 loss at Aldershot. Sutton were 3-1 down to 10-man Forest Green on Saturday and they were fortunate to rescue a draw from that contest.
