Sorry Toni Storm... it was Mariah May’s turn to eat

AEW didn’t do much to advance All In’s Women’s World title feud on the July 31 Dynamite. What they did do was give champion Timeless Toni Storm and challenger Mariah May a few minutes to further develop the changes in their characters — changes that began with May betraying her now-former mentor, friend & lover after winning the title shot along with this year’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

May played above it all in her interview with Renee Paquette, insisting she’d already offered enough of an explanation for turning on Storm over the past few weeks. “The Glamour” continued to make the most of the opportunity to play a scheming, selfish villain, and had the line of the night with...

“Toni always said this business would eat you alive. I guess it was just my turn to eat.”

Storm followed with more warnings about what she’s gong to do to her ex-protege+ at Wembley Stadium on Aug. 25. And with the way she’s painting her face these days, we don’t doubt that her match with Mariah will be “the romance of a bloody lifetime”.

They should probably add a wrinkle or two before we get to London, but they have three-and-a-half weeks for that. As a refresher before things start to ramp up, this worked just fine.
