Sokoto police arrest alleged ‘bandit financier’

Men of the Sokoto state police command  have arrested an alleged bandit financiers, motorcycle thieves and recovered a stolen property. The command in a statement released stated that in Tangaza Local Government Area, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stormed Gidan-Madi after intelligence revealed a suspected funding channel for a notorious bandit gang. The operatives arrested Ruwa Ginyo, said to be the Fulani head of the community, along with two accomplices. Police sources said the trio allegedly served as brokers who received rustled cattle, sold them in markets and forwarded the proceeds to armed groups. Four rustled cows were recovered during the operation. When interrogated, the suspects reportedly confessed as investigations continue. In a separate operation, the Commands Strike Force pursued a motorcycle theft syndicate into Talata Mafara in Zamfara State, where several suspects were arrested for alleged criminal conspiracy and handling of stolen property.
