Taking to her Instagram page, the Modern Family star explained that she suffered from a severe eye allergy that caused her eyes to swell just moments before she was set to leave for the event.

Sharing a photo from the hospital, she wrote: “Didn’t make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER. Sorry I had to cancel! Craziest eye allergie right before getting in the car!”
