Nigeria’s Super Eagles claimed a 2-1 win over Iran in an international friendly in Antalya, Turkey, with Moses Simon and Akor Adams delivering the goals in a controlled yet tested performance.

Head coach Eric Chelle named a strong starting eleven. Maduka Okoye started in goal, while Wilfred Ndidi led the midfield alongside Alex Iwobi.

The attack featured Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze, and Akor Adams.

Super Eagles make fast start

Nigeria wasted no time taking control, opening the scoring inside five minutes. Simon finished clinically after a quick transition initiated by Chukwueze, cutting inside before firing past the goalkeeper.

The Super Eagles maintained pressure throughout the first half, creating multiple openings.

Adams came close to doubling the lead after being slipped through by Chukwueze, but his effort from a tight angle hit the side netting.

Adams extends lead, Iran respond

Nigeria’s second goal arrived shortly after the restart. Lookman threaded a precise pass into Adams, who showed composure to finish and make it 2-0.

Chelle introduced fresh legs as the half progressed, handing debuts to Emmanuel Fernandez and Chibuike Nwaiwu.

Iran responded in the 68th minute through Mehdi Taremi, who converted from close range to reduce the deficit. The striker later thought he had equalised after rounding Okoye, but the effort was ruled out for handball.

Game management secures result

Further substitutions saw Paul Onuachu, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Chidera Ejuke introduced as Nigeria managed the closing stages.

Iran applied late pressure, but Nigeria remained compact defensively to preserve the lead and secure the win.

The result offers a timely confidence boost for Chelle’s side ahead of their next friendly against Jordan, as preparations continue for upcoming competitive fixtures.
