Shettima Urges Industrial Growth as ECOWAS Inaugurates New Headquarters in Abuja

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on West African nations to move beyond functioning merely as a regional market and embrace a production-driven economy capable of delivering sustainable growth and shared prosperity.

Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of the new ECOWAS headquarters in Abuja, Shettima described the landmark edifice as a symbol of renewal, resilience, and confidence in the future of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

He urged member states to strengthen their commitment to economic integration, peace, industrialisation, and collective development, stressing the need for deeper cooperation in building a more prosperous and self-reliant region.

According to the Vice President, the new headquarters should serve as a catalyst for renewed efforts to transform ECOWAS into a stronger bloc that drives investment, manufacturing, trade, and regional stability across West Africa.
