The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has conferred a chieftaincy title on Seyi Tinubu, making the president’s son the centre of a major traditional ceremony.

Seyi Tinubu, who attended the event with his wife, Layal, was installed as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland, a title often described as “the beloved child” and linked to the preservation of Yoruba values, unity, and cultural heritage.

The installation attracted a wide array of political leaders and traditional rulers from across the country.

Among those present was the Senator representing Zamfara West and former Zamfara State Governor, Abdul’Aziz Yari, who was also installed with the title of Obaloyin of Yorubaland at the same ceremony.

The Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin, Bode Durojaiye, explained that the Obaloyin title symbolises love, compassion, justice, and harmony between the physical and spiritual realms.

Both titles carry responsibilities such as advising the Alaafin, promoting Yoruba culture, fostering unity, and supporting education and social welfare.

Footage circulating online seen by Dockaysworld, showed a packed venue with several dignitaries in attendance, including former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, lawmakers, and numerous traditional rulers.

The ceremony was attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Senate Majority Leader Michael Bamidele, and other senior government officials.
