See what Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos wore to Met Gala

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez hit the Met Gala Monday evening in New York City. 

Sanchez, outfitted in an Oscar De La Renta black velvet and white full-length gown, with a mosaic design described as having the image of a "shattered stained-glass rose", according to Vogue. 

"The shattered glass disappears and reveals the black velvet going up toward her very small waist, which is a gorgeous silhouette," said Oscar De La Renta co-creative director Fernando Garcia in an interview with the magazine. 

As for Sanchez, she likened the dress to life lessons. "In my head, it’s definitely a metaphor for life because it’s a little bit about all your broken pieces in life and putting those pieces back together, she said. "It's not just a dress. It is really a piece of art" Vogue reported. 

She first walked the stairs to the Metropolitan Museum of Art solo, showcasing her outfit for photographers. 

The couple was later photographed together, also on the green carpeted entry stairs. Bezos wearing a traditional tuxedo. 

This marks the first time the Amazon founder and his fiancée have attended as a couple, according to Page Six and other outlets. 

Bezos is the world's second-richest person with a net worth of $206 billion, per Forbes. FOX Business reached out to a Bezos and Sanchez representative for comment.

The Met Gala "provides the department with its primary source of annual funding for exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, operations and capital improvements," per the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is held at the New York City art museum’s Fifth Avenue location each year.

Many attendees dressed in accordance with this year’s "The Garden of Time" dress code.

Just a day before the highly-anticipated event, the couple spent time together in the Big Apple at the Monse Maison Pre-Met Cocktail Celebration, according to reports.

Sanchez described the form-fitting number she wore to that event as the "perfect little black dress" in a Sunday social media post.

Monse belongs to the Oscar de la Renta Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia.

Bezos has hit the Met Gala on a couple of prior occasions, most recently in 2019. That year, the event’s theme was "Camp: Notes on Fashion."

The billionaire Amazon founder and Sanchez have been engaged since May of last year. Prior to getting engaged, their relationship had spanned nearly five years.

She told Vogue in November she was "looking forward to being Mrs. Bezos."
