Saudi Arabia is moving forward with a comprehensive strengthening of its national food security system, following directives issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The latest directives, announced on Sunday, task a coordinated network of government bodies with securing strategic food stocks and ensuring the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to the domestic market.

Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and Chairman of the General Food Security Authority, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Fadli, confirmed that the directives reflect the leadership’s commitment to addressing the economic pressures affecting regional food supply chains. Minister of State and Cabinet Member, Engineer Khalid Al-Falih, visited the headquarters of the General Food Security Authority on Sunday to review the capabilities of its newly upgraded Early Warning Center. The center uses advanced data analytics and smart monitoring systems to track global and domestic food supply indicators in real time, enabling faster and more precise decision-making when disruptions occur.

Al-Fadli noted that the development of this early warning infrastructure is part of a broader national commitment to adopting global best practices and ensuring that Saudi Arabia is always positioned to respond swiftly to changes in food availability and pricing. The center’s systems link directly with relevant government entities and private sector stakeholders to form a unified national response architecture.
