Saudi Arabia Launches ETA Travel Permit for UK Citizens

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the launch of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) service for UK citizens.

The move marks another major step toward simplifying travel procedures and strengthening tourism and business ties between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

This initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of boosting tourism, encouraging international business, and expanding global connectivity.

New Travel Convenience for British Visitors

The Ministry stated that the ETA service reflects the strong and historic relationship between Saudi Arabia and the UK.

It also highlights both countries’ efforts to facilitate travel and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The new system allows British citizens to enter Saudi Arabia without going through lengthy traditional visa procedures.

It also offers greater flexibility for travelers through multiple-entry access.

Stay Up to 180 Days

Under the new ETA system, UK citizens can stay in Saudi Arabia for up to 180 days per year.

This duration can be used either continuously or through multiple visits across the year.

This flexibility makes travel planning easier for visitors coming for tourism, business, or short educational purposes.

Multiple Travel Purposes Covered

The ETA allows entry for several purposes, including:

• Tourism
• Short-term study
• Business

This expansion strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position as an attractive destination for international visitors.

Excluded Travel Categories

Despite the convenience offered by ETA, the Ministry clarified that the authorization does not apply to:

• Work visas
• Residency permits
• Hajj travel

Travelers visiting for these purposes must still apply for the specific visa category required.

Official Launch Date

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the ETA service will officially take effect on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

The service applies to all types of UK passports.

This initiative is expected to boost travel, tourism, and business exchange between Saudi Arabia and the UK while supporting stronger long-term cooperation between both nations.
