President William Ruto says his Government is putting the final touches on an ambitious long-term development plan that will see Kenya become a developed country in the next twenty or so years. The blueprint, set to be presented to Parliament in the coming weeks, will outline a sweeping vision for economic growth anchored in infrastructure, energy, and agricultural expansion.

Speaking on Sunday at the African Divine Church in Gamalenga, Vihiga County, Ruto said the proposals form part of his administration’s master plan to lift Kenya from a third-world to a first-world economy through innovation and strategic investment.

“We have the plans and the vision to change this country from a Third World country to a First World country,” Ruto stated. “It is possible to take this country to that level in our lifetime, in about 20 to 30 years.”

The President explained that the plan calls for Ksh1.5 trillion to fund infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, and airports, another Ksh1.5 trillion for energy development, and an equivalent amount to revitalize agriculture. His goal, he said, is to bring at least two million acres of land under active cultivation to boost food production and exports.

“To raise that money, we do not have to raise taxes; we just need brains and that we have,” he remarked confidently.

Ruto projected that the government will require approximately Ksh4 trillion in total to turn Kenya into a food-secure, export-driven economy, ensuring that every region has access to modern transport systems and reliable electricity.

He emphasized that Kenya must break free from the chains of poverty, unemployment, and underdevelopment, pointing to successful examples from Asia’s “economic miracle” nations.

“China did it, Indonesia did it, Malaysia did it, South Korea and Singapore did it. Kenya will also do it,” Ruto declared.

The President urged Kenyans to remain patriotic and optimistic, condemning leaders who constantly criticize the country and undermine its progress.

“We want to tell them, shame on you, because Kenya is a blessed, great nation, and we are going places,” he said.

“There are leaders who, when they speak, you wonder why they are leaders if they do not believe anything good can come out of Kenya.”

The upcoming transformation blueprint is expected to become one of the most ambitious economic agendas of Ruto’s presidency, setting a clear path toward industrialization and possibly prosperity.
