“Rule Of Law Has Prevailed”— NBA Gwagwalada Chairmanship Candidate Hails Reinstatement, Says Appeal Committee’s Decision Is Victory For Justice, Democracy

A chairmanship candidate in the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Gwagwalada Branch election, Nuraddin Daud Abdulsalam, has described his reinstatement into the race as a victory for justice, democracy and the rule of law.

Abdulsalam, in a statement titled “My Reinstatement: A Victory for Justice, Democracy, and the Rule of Law,” expressed gratitude to the Branch Election Appeal Committee for allowing his appeal and restoring his candidacy.

The appeal committee had reviewed petitions and appeals arising from the branch election qualification process. In the document sighted, Abdulsalam’s appeal was allowed after his disqualification over payment of 2025 Branch Practising Fee under Abuja Branch was considered. The committee noted that the portal printout indicated Gwagwalada Branch.

Reacting to the decision, Abdulsalam praised the appeal committee, describing its members as men and women of integrity who had restored confidence in justice.

“I must begin by expressing my profound gratitude to the Branch Election Appeal Committee. This Committee, made up of men and women of unyielding integrity, has re-anchored our faith in justice, demonstrating that the law remains a shield for the innocent and a sword against oppression,” he said.

He said the decision had strengthened his belief that all power belongs to God, whom he described as the master planner and doer of all things.

Abdulsalam maintained that his reinstatement was not merely a personal victory, but a triumph for democratic values within the NBA.

“My reinstatement today is far more than a personal victory; it is a resounding triumph for democracy and the sacred principle of the rule of law within our noble Association,” he said.

He also thanked Bar elders, colleagues, friends and supporters of the Gwagwalada Branch, popularly known as the Eagle Bar, for their solidarity, prayers and support during the process.

The chairmanship candidate, however, urged members not to relent, saying the struggle to protect the integrity of the branch election was not over.

According to him, members must work together to ensure that no lawyer, whether young or old, is arbitrarily disenfranchised.

“This is not the time to rest on our laurels. The battle for the soul of our branch is far from over. We must link arms to ensure that no member, young or old, is arbitrarily disenfranchised and that the NBA Uniform Bye-Law 2025 is strictly and transparently complied with,” he said.

Abdulsalam thanked members of the branch for their commitment to justice, the rule of law and democracy.
