Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste Ras Kuuku has declared ‘Ye Tali Mu’ as his all-time favorite collaboration, describing it as the biggest dancehall song in Ghana.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with DJ Slim, Ras Kuuku highlighted the significant impact the song, which features Shatta Wale, has had on his career.

“I’ve always said ‘Ye Tali Mu’ is the biggest dancehall song to come out of Ghana. When it comes to dancehall, Ghana or outside Ghana, it is one of the songs that projected reggae and dancehall in Ghana,” he said.

When asked about his collaboration with Samini on ‘Eyeball,’ Ras Kuuku acknowledged its quality but maintained that ‘Ye Tali Mu’ had a greater influence on his career.

“But the impact that ‘Ye Tali Mu’ had on my music journey—my ‘Eyeball’ song cannot compare, not even 2%,” he noted.

Ras Kuuku has worked with several musicians, including gospel artists like MOGMusic and Broda Sammy, as well as Kwesi Amewuga, the late Ebony, Kofi Kinaata, and Stonebwoy.

During the interview, he also questioned the gospel status of renowned producer and musician Nacee, expressing strong reservations about categorizing him as a gospel artist.

“Nacee is not a gospel musician; Nacee is a producer,” Ras Kuuku stated firmly.

DJ Slim, however, countered by listing Nacee’s notable gospel records, but Ras Kuuku pointed out his involvement in secular songs such as ‘Kwen Kwen,’ composed for the National Democratic Congress, as well as tracks like ‘Boys Boys,’ ‘Dondo,’ and ‘Paddy Paddy.’

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) defines ‘Best Gospel Song’ as the most popular Christian song released within the year, exclusively by gospel artists. Ras Kuuku took issue with this restriction, arguing that the awards board unfairly limits the category to only gospel musicians.

Meanwhile, Ras Kuuku touted his song ‘Me Mpaebo’ as one of the biggest gospel songs released in the past ten years.

His comments suggest that Nacee’s involvement in secular music may have affected the perception of his gospel brand among listeners.
