Public Service Commission Declares All NCIC Positions Vacant

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has declared all positions at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) vacant following the expiry of the members’ two-year renewable term.

In a notice dated Friday, January 30, 2026, Reuben Chirchir, Chairperson of the Selection Panel for the Appointment of Nominees, announced vacancies for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission and invited qualified Kenyans to apply.

“Pursuant to Section 15 of the National Cohesion and Integration Act, 2008, and Article 250(2) of the Constitution of Kenya, the Chairperson of the Selection Panel hereby declares that there are vacancies in the membership of the Commission arising from the expiry of the two-year renewable term for members, with effect from September 1, 2025,” read part of the notice.

Chirchir added that the names of all applicants and shortlisted candidates will be published in the Kenya Gazette and on the Public Service Commission website, allowing members of the public to submit any credible information regarding the applicants.

He further noted that the salaries and benefits for the positions will be determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Public Service Commission Requirements for NCIC Vacancies

To qualify for appointment as Chairperson of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission, a candidate must:

• Be a Kenyan citizen
• Hold a degree from a university recognized in Kenya
• Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
• Be an honest and impartial person who commands public confidence

Elsewhere,  for appointment as a Member of the Commission, a candidate must:

• Be a Kenyan citizen
• Hold a degree from a university recognized in Kenya
• Have at least two years’ experience in areas such as ethnic relations, human rights, public affairs, peace, or security
• Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

How to Apply

To apply, a candidate must submit their application in a sealed envelope clearly marked with a detailed curriculum vitae, a copy of their ID or Passport, copies of academic certificates, testimonials, and any other relevant supporting documents.

However, the applications may be posted, sent by courier, or hand-delivered and signed in at the Public Service Commission Secretary’s Office on the 4th floor of the Commission House, off Harambee Avenue.

Disqualification Criteria For the Vacancies

According to the PSC, a person shall not be eligible for appointment if they:

• Are a State Officer
• Are actively involved in the affairs of a political party
• Have promoted ethnic, racial, or religious hatred
• Are an undischarged bankrupt
• Have been convicted of a criminal offence
• Have previously been removed from office for violating the Constitution or any other law
• Have failed to meet statutory obligations, including tax compliance
