‘Protest or hooliganism?’: Labour protesters enter Noida office premises, spark panic among employees

A labour protest near an office complex in Sector 63 turned chaotic, with at least one employee alleging that protestors entered the premises and damaged property.

An employee named “PoojaSri” who was inside the office during the protest said staff members were unable to leave the building for some time and described the situation as “disturbing.”

“Everyone has the right to protest, but not by creating fear and causing damage,” the employee said in a post on Instagram.

She said the unrest created panic among workers and raised concerns about safety at the workplace.

“Hope the authorities take this seriously so no one has to face such an unsafe situation again,” she added.

The protest appears to be part of a broader wave of labour unrest in Noida’s industrial areas, where workers have been raising demands related to wages, working hours and enforcement of labour regulations.

What began as a demonstration reportedly escalated in parts of Sector 63 and nearby zones, with incidents of stone-pelting, damage to property and clashes creating tension in commercial pockets.

Authorities have since stepped in to contain the situation, detaining several individuals and increasing security presence in the area.
