Prince William travels to Scotland for talks with King Charles just hours after engagement with Kate

Prince William flew to Scotland to meet with King Charles for important talks at Balmoral Castle after undertaking an emotional engagement with Princess Kate in Southport.

The King is currently enjoying a stay at the Royal Family’s Aberdeenshire property and was joined by his eldest son.

On Tuesday, William and Kate had been in Southport to tour schools that had been attended by the three girls tragically killed in an attack on a dance class in the town last year.

Later that evening, the Prince of Wales was spotted arriving at Aberdeen airport.

William’s meeting with his father at Balmoral is the third such mini break they have taken together in the Scottish Highlands.

Their sit-downs, which remain out of the diaries of senior royal staff, are intended to be a private catch up between the King and his son.

The pair have agreed to set aside the time to discuss matters and sovereign and heir, the Telegraph reported.

It is the Prince of Wales's second journey to Balmoral this year, after enjoying part of his annual summer break there.

He was joined by Princess Kate and their three children, Geoge, Charlotte and Louis, in late August during the school holidays.

Earlier that Tuesday, the Prince and Princess of Wales had met with the families of Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King and Elsie Dot Stancombe in Southport.

It was the first time they had travelled to the Merseyside town since October 2024, where they joined the community in solidarity.

While there, William delivered a powerful speech while at Churchtown Primary School – the former school of Bebe King and Alice da Silva Aguiar.

The Prince of Wales said: “Many lives were changed on that terrible day – including countless members of this school community.

“Bebe, Alice and Elsie’s friends and classmates have come together to support each other and remember the girls in their own way,” he celebrated.

“To the teaching community here at Churchtown Primary and Farnborough Road, where we visited this morning – each and every one of you has gone above and beyond to help heal this incredible group of young people.

“Thank you,” William stressed.

“To Alex and Sergio, Lauren and Ben, Jenni and David – you are parents united in grief. You have faced such horror - but from that you move forward with grace and fortitude – creating the most remarkable legacies for your girls.

“We will always be here to support you,” the prince assured.

“To everyone impacted on that day you will never be forgotten.

William called on the schoolchildren to "enjoy this playground” and called on them to "be brave, be joyful and be kind.

“Thank you,” the Prince of Wales concluded the powerful address.
