Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'happy' for King and Princess Kate despite 'no sign' of royal feud ending

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were happy to see King Charles and Princess Kate attending Sandringham following a turbulent year, according to a royal expert.

A former BBC royal correspondent suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who spent Christmas Day at their Montecito residency with their two children, would have enjoyed the day and been happy to see their relatives well enough to be in the public eye.

Meanwhile, King Charles led members of the Royal Family for the traditional Christmas Day walk from St Mary Magdalene church at Sandringham in Norfolk, with Princess Kate displaying a cheerful demeanour alongside her husband and children as they greeted the public.

The King and Princess of Wales both announced they had been diagnosed with cancer in early 2024, leading to a turbulent year for the royals.

Jenny Bond told OK!: "They had their own private Christmas thousands of miles away and hopefully they had a good time.

"Meanwhile, our Royal Family put themselves on parade and consequently enjoyed a great deal of extremely positive public approval and publicity.

"If Harry and Meghan troubled to take note of the positive feedback around the royals here, they would probably have been happy that the King and Catherine were well enough to be out and about after their cancer diagnoses.

"They are not heartless."

Speaking on negative publicity surrounding the Californian-based royals, Bond said: "I hope they have learned to ignore it.

"I don't foresee any progress in mending fences with the King and William in the New Year.

"The court case against the Home Office continues to put Charles in a very awkward position and I don't think William is yet in any mood to contemplate patching things up with his brother.

"It could happen...one day...but there's no sign yet."

Prince Harry, who stepped back as a working royal in 2020, is thought to not be on speaking terms with the King or William following several high-profile allegations against the institution in his infamous 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview and record-breaking memoir Spare.

The Duke of Sussex is set to return to the UK in January for his trial against News Group Newspapers (NGN), where he has accused the Sun publisher of unlawful information gathering by journalists and private investigators between 1996 and 2011.

"I think it's possible that something like cancer can change perspectives – Catherine herself has said so – and that, one day, life might just seem too short to continue to bear grudges.

"But that day may yet be a very long way off....if it ever comes at all."
