Pretty sure Jason Statham is gonna whoop Adam Copeland’s ass

There’s been a lot of news around pro wrestlers in Hollywood this year. With all the stories about people we know from WWE, AEW, and elsewhere getting cast in movie and television roles, or reaching new heights in those industries… I kind of forgot about a Hall of Fame wrestler who’s been a working actor for about 15 years, and has even collected a (Children’s and Family) Emmy Award nomination.

That wrestler-turned-actor is Adam Copeland, fka as Edge. His Emmy nom was as a supporting actor for his turn as Ares on the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which is about to film its third season ahead of the premiere of its second.

Cope just landed a role in a sequel to a successful action movie, and if the role is big enough it could mean we’ll stop forgetting about him in the wrestler-turned-actor conversation. Variety reports the Rated-R Superstar has been cast in The Beekeeper 2, along with Guardians of the Galaxy and Mission: Impossible’s Pom Klementieff. They don’t have any word on what their roles will be, though.

The first Beekeeper was a modest box office success starring 21st century action king Jason Statham. The plot for the second is “being kept under wraps” even as production has started. But obviously Statham is reprising his role as a former government superspy/assassin trying to live a quiet live but forced back into action when a friend is wronged*. Supporting actors Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave are back, as is screenwriter Kurt Wimmer. Indonesian action director Timo Tjahjanto takes over for David Ayers at the helm.

It’s too early for a release date, but with The Beekeeper 2 in production now, a late 2026 or early 2027 timeframe seems likely. The original was released last year.
