The Premier League is anticipated to announce “disciplinary charges” against clubs identified as having violated its profitability and sustainability regulations, known as PSR, within this week.

According to The Guardian, the Premier League has allotted its financial and legal divisions a period of 14 days to thoroughly examine the financial records of clubs that are at risk of breaching PSR for the 2021-24 accounting cycle.

The clubs in question are likely to receive potential charges by Monday or Tuesday.

As per the report, Manchester United has “limited flexibility in their operations.”

Furthermore, it was reported that Chelsea’s significant financial losses in recent years place the club in a precarious position as well.

Manchester United’s pre-tax loss surged to £131 million last season, while Chelsea’s cumulative pre-tax losses over the previous two years total £211 million.

Other clubs that must exercise caution include Leicester City, which narrowly avoided a points deduction in 2024.

Additionally, Nottingham Forest and Everton—both of which faced point deductions last season due to PSR violations—are also under scrutiny. Newcastle United is reportedly another club that must remain vigilant regarding PSR compliance.
