The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has debunked claims that his work is being affected following his deep involvement in the political affairs in Rivers State and the Peoples Democractic party (PDP).

Wike while inspecting some road projects across the FCT, said he will continue to discharge his duties as minister effectively.

Noting that his major responsibility as the minister of the FCT is to serve all residents of Nigeria’s capital city, Wike said he will always be ready to carry out his assignments within the Territory.

“How will it affect my job? Politics isn’t here and you have to serve the people, the work will have to go on and politics won’t affect it.

“We have the area council elections that is coming up in just a few weeks and are we not doing our work?” the Minister queried.

Continuing, the Minister noted, “It won’t affect us, what’s important is for us to pay the contractor and I have told the FCDA to supervise and let us know from time to time to wake up ourselves and let us know, so politics of 2027 will not affect our work.”

He further expressed satisfaction with the level of work put into the road construction by the contractors.

Commending the contractors, he said, “We went to the social research roads, to Nile University and Body of Benchers and very importantly, the traffic that leads to the old road that leads to EFCC.

“The work done there is very encouraging and the company did assure that by the end of May, they would have handed over that project and it’s one of the projects we have earmarked for inauguration during the president’s third year in office.

“From there, we went to the development child extension leading to the annexe,” he added.
