Policybazaar appoints Sajja Praveen Chowdary as CEO of its insurance broking arm after Tarun Mathur exit

Policybazaar Insurance Brokers Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of PB Fintech Ltd, has appointed Sajja Praveen Chowdary as its chief executive officer (CEO) and Principal Officer, following the resignation of Tarun Mathur, according to a regulatory filing.

The appointment, approved by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, took effect on 7 April 2026. Chowdary will also serve as Whole-Time Director of the company.

Tarun Mathur stepped down from his role with effect from the close of business on the same day, citing personal commitments. Chowdary has been with PB Fintech since 2011 and currently leads Policybazaar for Business, the firm’s corporate, SME insurance and reinsurance division.

During his tenure, Chowdary has overseen multiple business functions, including product and technology management. He also played a role in expanding the company’s retail insurance offerings, including motor and term life products, and introduced features such as self-video inspection and zero-cost term insurance aimed at simplifying purchases for customers.

A marketing professional with more than 17 years of experience in e-commerce and business management, Chowdary holds a postgraduate degree in marketing from IMT Ghaziabad and a BTech in electronics and communications.

Mathur, a long-serving executive at Policybazaar, spent more than 18 years with the company. During that time, he held several leadership roles, including co-founder and chief business officer, and led areas such as analytics, revenue management, life insurance and strategic initiatives.
