Police officer and UNIPORT undergraduate arrested over suspected cult activities

The University's Internal Security team in the University of Port Harcourt on September 26 confronted a suspected cult member, Police Corporal Onwukwe Godswill 'm' attached to the Elimgbu Division and a 200-Level Biomedical Technology undergraduate student of the University, Ifeanyi Israel over suspected cult activities. Godswill and other suspected cult members were said to have been planning to cause crisis during the signing out ceremony of the final year students when they were the security in the school got wind of their plans and arrested him. In a swift response, operatives of the command attached to the Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU) were dispatched to the scene and the suspects were arrested. Confirming the arrest to newsmen, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson of the command, said a thorough search of the suspects led to the discovery of the following exhibits Two (2) Locally made pistols, four (4) rounds of live cartridges, two (2) rounds of 9mm live ammunition and a small axe.  A subsequent search of the house of the suspected cult  leader, Cpl Onwukwe by the Operatives, resulted in the recovery of the following additional exhibits, one locally made pistol and two machetes. The suspects and exhibits are currently in Police custody. An in-depth investigation has been launched to determine the full extent of the suspect's involvement in cultism and other related activities.
