The Delta State Police Command has arrested multiple suspects over alleged sexual assaults linked to a local festival in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement, saying authorities were alarmed by disturbing videos from Oramudu quarters showing incidents of harassment and assault.

“The Delta State Police Command has condemned the alleged sexual molestation and harassment and rape of girls in Ozoro under the guise of a festival,” he said.

Edafe confirmed that “the Command received with grave concern disturbing videos… which captures sexual assault and molestation of young women,” stressing that such acts are criminal and violate the rights and dignity of victims.

Recall Dockaysworld reported that the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, immediately ordered an investigation, leading to the arrest of the alleged chief organiser and five other suspects.

“The Commissioner of Police… has ordered that the case be immediately transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation,” the statement said.

Police also noted that tactical and investigative teams have been deployed to track down other suspects and ensure prosecution of those involved.

The command urged victims and witnesses to come forward, assuring that all information provided would be handled with strict confidentiality and professionalism.

It also appealed to residents to remain calm and law-abiding, reiterating its commitment to protecting lives and upholding citizens’ rights while bringing all perpetrators to justice.
