Actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo criticizes the PDP, claiming the party now serves the APC’s interests following Nyesom Wike’s ministerial appointment in Tinubu’s administration.

Kenneth Okonkwo, the previous spokesperson for the Labour Party, has alleged that leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have become subservient to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okonkwo stated that the main opposition party should hold itself accountable for the crisis destabilizing it, attributing the leadership turmoil to Nyesom Wike’s appointment as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by the APC government.

Okonkwo believes that President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint Wike has weakened the PDP’s position as an opposition party.

During a Friday program on Channel Television, Okonkwo, a well-known Nollywood actor who has transitioned into politics, criticized the PDP for allowing certain members to join their ranks despite having worked against the party in the 2023 elections.

He pointed out, “Consider the situation within the PDP. For example, a group known as G5 openly acted against the party’s interests for everyone to see. You accepted them and then made excuses on their behalf.”

Typically, when you agree to such things, they gradually progress. However, now they aim to take control of the party and have been granted a position.

They would proceed to take over the party, and once they did, the true members found themselves subservient. This happened because their primary leader became a subordinate to the APC by accepting a ministerial position within it. Consequently, those remaining in PDP ended up being subordinates of that leader, effectively making PDP a servant’s servant to the APC.
