Panic as gunmen invade Imo community hosting FUTO

Unknon gunmen on edneday, May 13, invaded Eziobodo community in Owerri West local government area, host community of the Federal University of Technology Owerri . Panic has gripped residents and students of Eziobodo in Owerri West Local Government Area, a host community to the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), following a violent invasion by gunmen on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.  Viral social media footage showed widespread chaos, with students, traders, and motorists fleeing for safety amid sounds of gunfire.  One harrowing video featured a commercial motorcyclist with a blood-stained white singlet, nursing a severe head injury covered with medical plaster. He narrowly escaped death, revealing that his passenger insisted on entering the volatile area despite reports of danger.  The attack, which occurred in the evening, caused significant disruption, leaving residents and students in the community on edge.
