Over 63,000 Saudi Families Move Into Their First Homes in Six Months

More than 63,000 Saudi families moved into their first homes during the first half of 2026, as the Kingdom continues efforts to expand homeownership and provide a wider range of housing and financing options.

According to the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, 63,076 families occupied their first homes between January and June, including 12,004 families in June alone.

The figures come as Saudi household homeownership reached 66.24 percent at the end of 2025, moving closer to the Housing Program’s target of 70 percent.

63,076 Families Move Into Their First Homes

The latest figures show continued activity across the Kingdom’s housing sector during the first six months of 2026.

Alongside the 63,076 families that moved into their first homes, 48,631 families benefited from housing support services during the same period.

In June alone, 10,160 families benefited from housing support.

The figures highlight the scale of ongoing efforts to facilitate access to housing through financial support, residential projects and cooperation between government entities, developers and financing institutions.

More Than 1 Million Supported Housing Contracts

The total number of supported residential contracts issued since the launch of the Sakani program in 2017 reached 1,046,890 by the end of June 2026.

Crossing the one-million-contract threshold represents a significant milestone for the program and illustrates the scale of housing support provided over nearly a decade.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing said the results reflect continued efforts to provide diverse housing and financing solutions while improving services and accelerating homeownership procedures.

What Housing Options Are Available?

Sakani provides several options designed to accommodate different household requirements and financial circumstances.

They include ready-built homes, off-plan units under construction, self-construction solutions and residential land.

Providing multiple pathways to ownership allows beneficiaries to select housing solutions that more closely match their individual needs.

Increasing Saudi Arabia’s Housing Supply

Residential developments implemented in partnership with real estate developers are also helping increase housing supply.

These developments are designed not only to provide homes but also to create integrated residential communities incorporating facilities, services and open spaces.

The approach aims to improve quality of life while supporting the development of sustainable and active communities across different regions of the Kingdom.

Homeownership Reaches 66.24%

Saudi household homeownership reached 66.24 percent by the end of 2025, according to the ministry.

The figure places the Kingdom less than four percentage points away from the 70 percent homeownership target established under the Housing Program, one of the programs supporting Saudi Vision 2030.

The progress reflects years of expanding housing supply, financing solutions, government support and partnerships with the private sector.

Closing In on the 70% Target

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing says it will continue working with private-sector developers and financing institutions to increase residential supply and broaden the range of housing options available to families.

With more than 63,000 families moving into their first homes in just six months and supported contracts surpassing one million since 2017, the Kingdom continues to move toward its long-term homeownership target.

The pace of new housing development, financing accessibility and the availability of different ownership options will remain key factors as Saudi Arabia works toward reaching 70 percent household homeownership.
