Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has expressed optimism that Victor Osimhen will return to action within a few weeks following his recent injury.

Osimhen picked up the injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool last week. The Nigerian striker featured for the first 45 minutes before being substituted at half-time, with Leroy Sané coming on in his place.

The 27-year-old has since undergone successful surgery in Istanbul on Monday, with the club confirming that the procedure went well.

“He’s doing very well and had a successful operation,” Özbek said, according to Sabah. “We hope he can come back to play as soon as possible.”

Osimhen is expected to be sidelined for around one month, ruling him out of several key fixtures. He will miss league matches against Trabzonspor, Göztepe, and Kocaelispor, as well as cup ties against Gençlerbirliği.

His absence will be a significant blow for Galatasaray, given his importance to the team’s attacking setup this season. However, the club remains hopeful that he will make a swift recovery and return in time to play a key role in the latter stages of the campaign.
