Omah Lay, Mainland Block Party, and Jameson Irish Whiskey Nigeria  Paint Abuja Purple for the September Edition of ‘Capital Block Party’

Over 700 Nigerians entered the new month with a bang in the city of Wuse 2 for the September edition of ‘Capital Block Party'. The Abuja iteration of the beloved Mainland Block Party franchise took place at Harrow Park last Saturday, with Jameson Whiskey Nigeria in attendance. The mission? To make this event a “Purple September” to remember.

The Capital Block Party provided a backdrop for Abuja vendors in fashion, food, visual arts, and body art to showcase their products and services to a sea of guests. Jameson made sure to provide smooth cocktails like the “Jameson Sprite & Lime” and their signature “Palmwine Twist” as reviewed by Abuja blogger, Abuja Eats. Groups of friends enjoyed video games, snooker, content creation, and dancing until the very early hours of the morning.

Block Parties are known for their entertainment experiences, and this Capital Block Party was no different. The unofficial king of purple, Omah Lay, was the headlining act, with strong supporting performances by King Promise, Qing Madi, and Antiworld Gangsters. People who couldn’t see the performances live had the opportunity to catch performance highlights through the eyes of talented Abuja content creator, Deen on @notjustok’s Instagram handle.

Even the weather couldn’t stop the party! Despite brief rain showers, guests persevered through, refusing to let mother nature dampen their vibe. Jameson’s Cultural Brand Ambassador for Nigeria recollects her experience: "Abuja really shocked me. I assumed when the rain began people would start going home. To my surprise, I saw groups of friends huddled together gisting and waiting it out. As soon as the rain subsided, people came back into the grounds and started dancing like they never stopped. It was very on-brand for Jameson: Seeing people be themselves and not caring about who’s watching. It was awesome to witness.”

The party gave people the chance to create new memories with both old and new friends. Whether friends took outfit pictures on a special Jameson Media wall that shined neon purple to match the event theme or they screamed the lyrics of “So-So” to one another in the rain Capital Block Party accomplished its mission and Jameson Irish Whiskey Nigeria was glad to take part.
