Old Tafo Junction, Okada Rider Stabs Police Officer, Flees Scene

There was a terrible incident at Old Tafo Junction yesterday evening around 9pm after an Okada rider allegedly stabbed a police officer and fled into the bush during a routine security operation.

According to eyewitnesses, a Police FPU Patrol Team from Osiem was at the junction conducting a stop-and-search exercise.

During the operation, the team stopped an Okada rider who was carrying a passenger. While attempting to search him, the rider allegedly attacked one officer with scissors, inflicting a cut on his left arm, before abandoning the motorbike and run into a nearby bush.

The Police personnels gave chase but were unable to apprehend him.

The passenger on the Okada has been arrested and is assisting the police with investigations to help identify the fleeing suspect. The injured officer is reportedly sent to Osiem Saviour Hospital for treatment

Following the incident, some members at the scene are calling for authorities to engage Okada riders in the municipality on lawful conduct and cooperation with security agencies.
