Okoronkwo delighted as AFC Toronto win NSL Supporters’ Shield

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has expressed joy after helping AFC Toronto clinch the inaugural National Super League (NSL) Supporters’ Shield title.

AFC Toronto secured the crown with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Montreal Roses last weekend, with Okoronkwo providing the decisive assist for Nikayla Small’s winning goal just three minutes from time.

“It feels really good. It’s really amazing. We worked very hard for it from the beginning of the season, so to see our dream accomplished makes us very happy,” Okoronkwo told the Northern Super League.

The 28-year-old Nigeria international also extended gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support throughout the season.

“Thank you so much for always supporting us and coming out, whether it’s hot, rainy, or cold. You’ve always been here for us, and we truly appreciate it,” she added.
