Super Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu has praised captain Wilfred Ndidi, describing him as a leader whose influence is felt more through actions than words.

Ogbu was part of the Nigerian squad that secured a bronze medal at the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, marking a memorable first international tournament for the centre-back.

Speaking with Footy Africa, the Slavia Prague defender expressed pride at winning a medal on his debut with the national team and reflected on the lessons he picked up during the competition.

“For me, being part of this team is one of the greatest things to have happened to me,” Ogbu said. “I’m proud to be called up by Nigeria and to win a medal in my first appearance. It’s a thing of joy—something many people only dream of.”

Beyond the podium finish, Ogbu highlighted the sense of unity within the squad as his biggest takeaway from the tournament, singling out Ndidi’s leadership as a defining factor.

“What I learnt most is togetherness—how we come together when something happens, and how the captain handled things,” he explained. “He is honestly a leader I admire. Ndidi doesn’t speak much, but he leads by action. The way he brings us together is amazing.”

Ogbu also praised the overall atmosphere within the Super Eagles camp, pointing to the intensity of training sessions and the impact of head coach Éric Chelle.

“The energy at training, the intensity, and what the coach brings is something you can’t compare anywhere,” he added.
