Sports Minister Hon. Mustapha Ussif has confirmed that the official broadcaster for the 13th African Games, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), has received full payment for their services.

Speaking on the matter at the Public Accounts Committee on Monday, the minister disclosed that an amount exceeding $3 million was paid to GBC.

The 13th African Games took place in Ghana from March 8 to 23, 2024, with events hosted primarily at the Borteyman Sports Complex and the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. The Borteyman Sports Complex was the venue for indoor sports, while additional competitions were held in Kumasi and Cape Coast as sub-host cities.

Ghana, the host nation, finished sixth on the medal table, securing 69 medals in total: 19 gold, 29 silver, and 21 bronze.

“GBC was the official broadcaster for the 13th African Games, we can confirm that full payment has been made to GBC,” he said.

“I can’t recall the exact amount, but I know it is in excess of $3 million,” he added.
