Obuasi SHTS headmaster arrested – Muntaka

The Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Zakaria Abdulai, has been arrested over allegations of sexual misconduct.

This was disclosed by Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, when he appeared before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, explaining that the case had been moved from the regional level to Police Headquarters for further investigation.

According to the Minister, he became aware of the matter on September 7, when the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) received a report. He later requested that the investigation be handled at the national level.

“We’ve been able to get one of the ladies, maybe I shouldn’t be putting so much information out. About semen, we are getting DNA… So, what is happening is that this gentleman has been arrested, He’s going through the due process,” the Minister said.

Mr Muntaka said investigators were considering DNA evidence but would need a court order to collect DNA samples, as required by law.

He emphasised that the headmaster remained presumed innocent until proven guilty and would have the opportunity to respond to the allegations as investigations continued.
