NSCDC Dismantles Interstate Car-snatching Syndicate, Recovers 5 Vehicles, Dozens Of Number Plates, Documents

Syndicate specializes in stealing vehicles, dismantling them through complicit scrap dealers, and selling parts to conceal evidence.

The intelligence-driven tactical unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismantled a notorious interstate car-snatching syndicate operating across the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Benue, Kogi, and Plateau States.

Acting on credible intelligence, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’SIS) arrested six suspects : Hassan Bukar, Adam Musa (a.k.a. Yellow), Ibrahim Haruna (a.k.a. Biggie), Adamu Mohammed, Sahal Abdullahi Aliyu, and Abubakar Yusuf, while other accomplices remain at large.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate specializes in stealing vehicles, dismantling them through complicit scrap dealers, and selling parts to conceal evidence. Proceeds are allegedly laundered through cash and POS transactions.

The CG’SIS Commander, Commandant A.S. Dandaura, confirmed the sealing of five shops at Zuba Scrap Market used for dismantling stolen vehicles, alongside the recovery of exhibits, including a Toyota Camry and multiple vehicle documents and number plates.

Investigations further linked the suspects to a wider criminal network involving coordinated supply, resale, and concealment of stolen vehicles across multiple states.

The NSCDC confirmed that charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property, and aiding concealment have been established under relevant provisions of the Penal Code. Several suspects have confessed to long-running involvement in the illegal trade, while others remain under investigation.

Reaffirming its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and protecting critical national assets, NSCDC advised members of the public to verify vehicle ownership documents before purchase and report suspicious transactions to security agencies.
