The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) is urging motorists to take extra care when using the Konkonuru to Aburi road in the Eastern Region, as recent weather patterns have created hazardous driving conditions.

According to a statement issued on August 28, 2025, the Authority says heavy rainfall and thick fog have caused poor visibility along the route, especially during the early morning and late evening hours.

The situation is further worsened by wet and slippery road surfaces, making it easier for vehicles to skid or lose control.

The Aburi hills, known for their steep slopes and sharp curves, are particularly dangerous under these conditions.

The NRSA also warned that heavy rains could lead to falling debris and blockages due to poor drainage, adding yet another layer of risk for road users.

Drivers are being advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights when visibility is limited, and maintain a safe distance between vehicles.

The NRSA recommends avoiding overtaking on curves and slopes and encourages motorists to make sure their vehicles are in good working condition before travelling.

As unpredictable weather continues to affect parts of the Eastern Region, the Authority is calling on all drivers to stay alert and prioritise safety above all else.
