The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has commended the contributions of a non-governmental organisation, Path to Follow: Basic Moral and Civic Knowledge Project, in promoting moral values and civic education in line with its mandate.

The agency noted that the project aligns with its core responsibilities, which include awareness creation, value reorientation, public sensitisation, and the promotion of the National Identity Project and National Value Charter.

This was contained in a letter approving the renewal of partnership between the NOA and the project. The letter, issued by the Director-General of the agency, Lanre Issa-Onilu, was signed by the Director of Special Duties, David Akoji.

In the letter, the NOA described the activities of the Path to Follow project as commendable, noting that the renewal of the partnership was a testament to its impact in promoting civic responsibility among young Nigerians.

Issa-Onilu further assured that the agency would provide the project with the necessary platforms and institutional support to achieve its objectives.

Commenting on the development, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Morals Path to Follow Foundation, Collins RU Ihekire, said a society lacking moral values and civic knowledge is fundamentally weak.

According to him, basic moral and civic knowledge remain the building blocks of a functional society, stressing the need to instill such values in young people during their formative years.

Also speaking, the Project Coordinator, Chikezie Allwell Chinkata, described the renewed partnership as a strategic step toward strengthening collaboration with government agencies.

He emphasised the importance of educating children and teenagers on obedience to laws, support for government policies, and the responsibilities expected of them as citizens.

Chinkata added that early inculcation of the right values would help reduce the prevalence of social vices in society, noting that the partnership reflects the project’s commitment to raising responsible and morally upright individuals.
