The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is poised to regain power at the national level and secure more governorship positions in 2027, according to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

This declaration was made on Sunday during a visit to Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, at his country home in Sampou, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.

Alhaji Ahmed Yayare, the party’s National Treasurer, emphasized that widespread dissatisfaction and economic hardship have created a fertile ground for PDP’s resurgence.

“The disenchantment across the country is palpable.

“PDP will produce more governors in 2027 because Nigerians are yearning for change. If we do not take over the leadership of the country, it could mark the end of democracy in Nigeria,” Yayare said.

Yayare also underscored PDP’s position as the only credible opposition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Nothing stops PDP from producing the president and vice president in 2027. The cry of hunger and poverty is too much in the land. The 36 states of Nigeria are yearning for PDP’s return.”

The NWC plans to visit PDP-governed states, urging party governors to close ranks and align strategies ahead of the next general election. PDP National Secretary, Ude Okoye, reaffirmed the NWC’s commitment to repositioning the party and presenting Nigerians with a viable leadership alternative.

Governor Diri stressed the need for unity among PDP governors, calling on them to prioritize collective progress over personal interests. “We need to work closely together and do what is right without fear or favour.

“Consensus-building should always be our first option for resolving issues,” Diri stated.
