Nigerian Government Refutes Claims of JSS and SSS Elimination, Introduces 12-Year Basic Education Model

The Federal Government has proposed a 12-year basic education model in the country. The government, however, denied scrapping the Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Senior Secondary School (SSS) system. The Director of Press in the Federal Ministry of Education Folashade Boriowo, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja. Boriowo said the policy would remove the barriers between JSS and SSS if allowed to sail through. She said the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, presented the proposal for discussion at the Extraordinary National Council on Education (NCE) Meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.
