Nigerian-Chinese teen clears the air after people questioned her parents for replacing her Igbo name Ogochukwu with Sarah in the USA young Nigerian-Chinese girl has responded to online comments questioning why her parents reportedly dropped her Igbo name, Ogochukwu, and made her answer Sarah while living in the United States. In a video shared online, the teenager explained that the name wasnt changed out of shame or preference but out of pronunciation challenges. Speaking partly in Igbo and then in English, she said her mom called her earlier after they both came across several online comments criticizing the switch. According to her, people in the U.S. found it difficult to pronounce Ogochukwu, so they started calling her Sarah insteadsomething her family eventually went along with for simplicitys sake. However, she clarified that her full name remains Ogochukwu Sarah, and both names are boldly written on her passport and birth certificate. She also emphasized that within her home, her mom, siblings, and grandmother still call her Ogochukwu, and shes deeply proud of her heritage. Watch video below..     View this post on Instagram           A post shared by Lindaikejiblog (@lindaikejiblogofficial)  The post Nigerian-Chinese teen clears the air after people questioned her parents for replacing her Igbo name Ogochukwu with Sarah in the US appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
