The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed reports that Super Eagles’ forward Victor Osimhen has been banned from the team due to his recent social media outburst.

According to the report by Daily Trust on Wednesday, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, described the reports as “outright falsehood” and expressed surprise at the spread of the misinformation.

According to Sanusi, the Federation has not initiated any process to ban Osimhen, nor has any such process been concluded.

He urged the media to collaborate with the NFF to resolve issues positively and focus on the bigger picture, rather than escalating matters unnecessarily.

He said that the Federation is currently prioritizing preparations for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.

In a statement that was quoted by the NFF media unit, Sanusi said, “There was no official communication from the NFF, yet some persons have gone to town to talk about a ban on Osimhen from the national team. This is not good at all.

“Our focus currently is to resolve all matters around the Super Eagles and be able to look ahead with confidence to the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.”
