Here is a new update on the future of Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea ahead of the 2024/2025 club football season also referred to as next season.

Romero Lukaku’s transfer saga is one that has been interesting over the years, the 31-year-old striker is reportedly set to leave Chelsea again next season.

The English club have expressed their desire to let the striker go this season and multiple European clubs have expressed interest in the Chelsea striker.

The Italian club, Napoli have emerged as the front-runner of the bid, according to Sky Sports, both clubs are currently in talks over the deal for the striker, the deal is said to be a permanent move as Chelsea have made it clear that they are not interested in giving Lukaku out on loan for a third season.

The Italian team is currently being managed by Antonio Conte, who previously worked with Lukaku back at Inter Milan and they both won the Scudetto together and is keen on bringing the Belgian on his team at Napoli. According to reports, the Italian team sees the Belgian striker as the ideal replacement for Victor Osimhen, who is expected to leave the club this summer.

The Belgian striker spent the 2023-2024 season on loan, splitting his time between Inter Milan and AS Roma, with his performance in both teams being marked by a mix of highs and lows.

Lukaku started the season on loan at Inter Milan, returning to the club where he had previously enjoyed considerable success, however his time at the club was marred by inconsistent performances as well as fitness issues, and the Italian team decided not to extend his loan beyond January 2024, leading to his mid-season return to the English club, Chelsea.

The 31-year-old striker was moved on loan once again during the January transfer window to AS Roma, reuniting with former manager, Jose Mourinho. The Belgian began to find his footing under Mourinho as his improved performances at the club helped the team push for their top 4 finish in Serie A.

The Nigerian striker’s time at the Italian club seems to be drawing close to an end. Victor Osimhen who played a very pivotal role in Napoli’s Serie A title win last season, is reported to be exiting the club this summer. According to reports, the Nigerian striker is expected to leave Napoli with a €130 million release clause in his contract, and the Super Eagles striker is keen on joining the French team, Paris Saint-Germain.

The forward is one of the most sought after players in the market this transfer window, as we have seen other top European teams aside PSG, including Chelsea and Real Madrid show interest in the striker, even though they may be deterred by his high transfer value. PSG has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Nigerian striker, offering him a five-year contract at the club.
