New Strictly signing Dr Punam dropped massive hint she was in talks for show – weeks before joining cast

NEWLY signed Strictly star Dr Punam Krishan has dropped a cryptic clue that she was in talks to join show weeks ago.

The media medic is set to join the star-studded cast for the brand new 2024 series and it seems her signing may have been in the works for a long time.

In November last year the TV doctor went on Strictly’s it Takes Two panel where she was able to debrief on the shows performances.

In an Instagram post at the time Dr Punam uploaded a video of her experience on the panel and cryptic caption alongside it.

She wrote: “I had the BEST time on @bbcstrictly It Takes Two last night being part of a fab panel!

“Anyone who watched it would’ve learned that Strictly is a full on family affair for my family. 

“So to get the opportunity to get the strictly glow up, put on my sparkliest dress and sit down to do a debrief of last week’s performances and predict the “what next?” felt like a dream!

“I hated the prediction bit for who might go next…such a tough competition this year and all the contestants are bossing it every week…let’s see whose next (eyes emoji)” she added.

Dr Punam is the fifth celebrity to be announced to join the BBC One show and her statement of “Let’s see whose next (eyes emoji)” suggests that she could have been in talks to enter the show from late last year.

The media medic and broadcaster who is originally from Scotland uses her platform to teach people more about their physical and mental health. 

The Strictly star is a resident GP on BBC Morning Live and BBC Radio Scotland.

Alongside being a practising NHS GP she regularly reports on health news as a broadcaster and is an author of her own children’s book.

The medical professional and broadcaster will join the likes of JLS star JB Gill and comedian Chris McCausland.

Speaking about joining the show, Punam said: “This still doesn’t feel real, I am overjoyed to be a contestant on this year’s show.

“I have watched Strictly every year with my family and it feels extra special that it’s the 20th year, I can’t believe I will be the one getting Strictly-fied now.

“This is so out of my comfort zone, but I’m up for the journey and will give it my absolute all.”
