New Honda Models In The US Will Be Louder

As is well known, Honda has dulled its edge a bit in recent seasons and reduced the sporty feel of its cars. Now the Civic Type R is slowly being retired, and sportiness through Honda’s glasses looks like the new Prelude Hybrid. The attractive coupe doesn’t impress with its power and performance, and certainly not with its sound. It lacks at least two cylinders for something like that.

And in America, such things are crucial. Yes, hybrids are not known for their impressive sound, as everyday usability is prioritized. But Americans are different; they want hybrids to sound good, and Honda has decided to fulfil that wish.

A Honda engineer revealed to CarBuzz that the future powertrain in the U.S. will be louder. He said that “Americans like loud cars, so we had to make this one especially good for them.”

Although not a hybrid in the classic sense, the Cadillac V-Series R, which combines the roar of electric motors with the roar of a naturally aspirated V8 engine, has caused great excitement. However, it is hard to believe that Honda’s new hybrid will go that far.

The new exhaust note will at least be better than the one in the Prelude. The portal’s reporters had the opportunity to hear the sound of Honda’s new hybrid live, and it is said to be a “big improvement” over the coupe.

The prototype they heard reportedly uses the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain found in the Accord Hybrid and CR-V Hybrid, with engineers specifically working on the exhaust sound.

Honda plans to install the new 2.0-liter hybrid assembly in its most popular models, the Accord, Civic, and CR-V, but the sportier exhaust note may be limited to certain trim levels.

The company is also developing a new V6 engine for larger hybrid models, and it’s hoped that Honda will pay the same attention to its sound. The current 3.5-liter V6 powers models in the US market and develops almost 300 horsepower.
