Nebraska police fatally shoot woman after she kidn£ps a child at Walmart and attacks the child with a kn£fe in front of shoppers

Authorities in Omaha have confirmed that police fatally shot a woman following a vi£lent incident involving the abduction of a toddler at a Walmart store.

The incident reportedly began just after 9:10 a.m., when officers responded to a call about an armed woman carrying a large k!tchen kn!fe and accompanied by a young child.

Surveillance footage later revealed that the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Noemi Guzman, had allegedly shoplifted the kn!fe from the store before approaching a three-year-old boy and his guardian inside the premises.

According to authorities, she brandished the weapon and forced the child’s guardian to walk ahead while keeping the toddler in the shopping cart. She then led them through the store and into the parking lot.

During a press conference, Deputy Chief Scott Gray stated:
“The kn!fe-wielding woman “took possession of the child, essentially kidnapping the child,”

Police officers who arrived at the scene located Guzman in the parking lot, standing beside the cart with the child still inside.

Authorities said that despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, she continued making threats. During the confrontation, she injured the child before officers intervened.

Body camera footage showed the suspect holding the kn!fe near the child as officers attempted to de-escalate the situation. The officers ultimately discharged their weapons, striking Guzman.

Bystanders and the child’s guardian quickly removed the toddler from the cart and provided immediate assistance.

Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures on Guzman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child was transported to a hospital with injuries, including a significant cut to the face and hand, and is expected to survive.

Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said in a statement: “The responding officers acted with professionalism and direct action to intervene and save a child’s life,”

“The community can be reassured in knowing that Omaha police officers stand ready to act with courage and decisiveness in the most serious situations to protect the public,” Schmaderer said.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Omaha Police Department’s Officer-Involved Investigations Team in collaboration with the Nebraska State Patrol, as well as local sheriff’s offices.

In a statement, the department added: “The Omaha Police Department offers its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Guzman during this difficult time.”
