Motorola and Lenovo Launch Qira, a System-Wide AI Assistant That Works Across Devices

Motorola and its parent company, Lenovo, have introduced Qira, a new system-wide AI assistant designed to work seamlessly across multiple devices. The assistant was unveiled at CES in Las Vegas, alongside new hardware announcements such as the Motorola Razr Fold, Razr FIFA Edition, and Moto Watch.

Unlike traditional AI assistants that operate as standalone apps, Qira is embedded directly into the operating system. This allows it to move smoothly across Motorola and Lenovo devices, including smartphones, tablets, PCs, and wearables, while maintaining context. Users can start a task on one device and continue it on another without interruption.

According to Lenovo and Motorola, Qira is built to understand what users are doing in real time and offer relevant support with their permission. Over time, the assistant learns user preferences and intent, enabling it to anticipate needs and suggest helpful follow-up actions in a more natural way.

How Qira Works

Qira can be activated by saying “Hey, Qira” or by pressing a dedicated hardware key on supported Lenovo and Motorola devices. Once activated, it can assist with a wide range of everyday tasks.

The AI assistant can help users draft documents, emails, and messages in a tone that matches their writing style. It also offers real-time transcription and translation, making it useful during meetings or conversations. After meetings, Qira can generate summaries and highlight key discussion points.

In addition, Qira can summarize notifications across devices, helping users quickly catch up on important updates they may have missed. Notably, the assistant also supports offline functionality, allowing it to continue working even without an internet connection.

Designed to Reduce App Switching

One of Qira’s core goals is to reduce the need to search through multiple apps. For example, the assistant can notify a user about an upcoming flight and automatically check them in once they arrive at the airport. Notes, reminders, and notifications are synced across devices, ensuring continuity regardless of which device is being used.

“Our goal is to make AI feel less like a tool you use and more like an intelligence that works with you, continuously and naturally,” said Dan Dery, Vice President of AI Ecosystem at Lenovo’s Intelligent Devices Group.

Integration With Other AI Platforms

Motorola says Qira will work alongside other popular AI platforms, including Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity. This builds on Motorola’s earlier Moto AI efforts and strengthens its partnerships with major AI providers.

Availability

Qira will first launch on select Lenovo devices in the first quarter of the year, before expanding to supported Motorola smartphones. As competitors like Samsung and Google continue to roll out their own AI-powered features, Qira represents Lenovo and Motorola’s bid to make mobile AI more practical, contextual, and useful in daily life.
