Accuses Party Leader of Deliberate Contradiction

The PDP Moro Local Government Area stakeholders have unanimously rejected an elective process as a platform to elect the Local Government’s Chairman in the ongoing party’s congresses.

The group confirmed this development during a press conference held at the residence of Hon. Raliat Aremu Adifa, on Saturday where they accused the party’s leadership of reneging on a previous agreement.

The press conference, led by Hon. AbdulRazaq O. Ibrahim, cited an earlier directive from the party’s leader, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who had reportedly stated that he would personally appoint the party chairmen for all 16 local government areas.

According to Hon. Ibrahim, four aspirants had shown interest in the Moro party chairmanship including; Hon. Ahmed Isiaka Oniwa (Megida Ward), Hon. Joseph Olakunle Aweda JP (Lanwa ward), Comrade Jimoh Shehu Okete (Malete Ward), and Hon. Jimoh Abdulkareem Abati (Abati Alara ward).

Their names were forwarded to Dr. Saraki for his selection, as per the agreed practice. However, after the leader failed to choose one of them, the elders of the forum decided to reach a consensus, and Hon. Jimoh Abdulkareem Abati emerged as the sole candidate while the other three contenders willingly stepped down.

“We stand by his initial pronouncement and still believe in this leadership,” the group declared.

“Any elective party congress at Bode Sa’adu or anywhere is not accepted by us and we would resist it.”, they said.

Hon. Lateef Bolanle Lanwa, speaking at the same conference, expressed frustration with the situation.

He highlighted the party’s long standing tradition of consensus building, which he said had fostered unity.

He condemned the decision to hold the congress at what he called an unconventional venue, “Kara,” a place known for cattle trading.

He argued that the choice of that venue suggested a “jamboree” rather than a serious party exercise.

Lanwa further stated that the faction chose to hold the press conference and seek a peaceful resolution to avoid bloodshed, destruction of lives and properties.

“That’s why we’re applying this gentleman approach and that is why we have to apply this singular process that has to do with peace, tranquility and harmony.” He said

“That is why we gathered here at the residence our leader Hon Raliat Aremu Adifa, a woman who has been part of Saraki Dynasty for more than 30 years, who we know has that structure and channel to communicate with the Leader that has done that yesterday and we are all aware of it” He said.

He reiterated their loyalty to Dr. Saraki, but warned that if the party leadership proceeds with the congress and disregards the consensus candidate, other actions will be taken.

9japarrot report that the ongoing disagreement signals a deep division within the PDP’s Moro chapter, potentially threatening the party’s cohesion ahead of future political activities.
