MoMo PSB, fintech subsidiary of MTN Nigeria, has announced a partnership with Ogata Electric Vehicles to provide subsidised bus rides of ₦10 per fare to students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

MoMo PSB provides millions of Nigerians with simple and secure financial services including local and international transfers, savings, card services, bills payment,  and secure wallet solutions. The organisation is committed to improving everyday life through financial inclusion and digital accessibility. This transport subsidy is part of MoMo PSB’s broader initiative to reduce the cost of essential services for young Nigerians, particularly students.

“We see education as one of the strongest investments we can make in this nation,” said Phrase Lubega, Chief Executive Officer, MoMo PSB. “Transport costs have risen, and a ₦10 fare is our way of helping students move easily, attend classes, and remain focused on their academic goals. By making campus mobility more affordable, we are strengthening our commitment to the financial wellbeing of young Nigerians,” he added.

This initiative also supports MoMo PSB’s sustainability commitments. Electric vehicles used for the shuttle service help reduce carbon emissions and provide a cleaner campus environment.

Students pay their usual ₦100 fare from their MoMo account into the Ogata MoMo account at the bus stop, either via transfer or QR and get cashback of ₦90 in their MoMo wallet. For many students who take multiple daily trips, especially from Main Gate to the Campus and vice versa, the savings accumulate quickly, supporting MoMo PSB’s goal to improve financial stability for young Nigerians through accessible, tech-driven solutions.

“This partnership represents an important step forward in improving the commuting experience for the students we serve. By integrating MoMo’s seamless digital payment system, we are eliminating the challenges and delays associated with cash transactions, ensuring a smoother, faster, and more reliable process across our operations,” stated Henry Eke, Chief Executive Officer, Ogata. “We value the trust MoMo Payment Service Bank Limited has placed in us, and we look forward to deepening this partnership as we continue providing sustainable, affordable, and student-centered transport solutions on campus.”

MoMo PSB has also introduced two new affordable data bundles. These include the MoMo special bundles available exclusively on the MoMo app. Customers can enjoy 1GB for just N200 and 2.5GB for N500. These prices are significantly lower than the N500 and N950 prices offered on other platforms for similar bundles. The bundles ensure students and other MoMo users have more accessible and affordable data solutions.

Students can download the MoMo PSB App from App Store or Google Playstore or visit MoMo PSB’s social media pages @momo_psb to learn more.
