MOFI Boss Armstrong Takang Receives ICSAN Honorary Fellowship

The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), Dr. Armstrong Ume Takang, has been conferred with the Honorary Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) in recognition of his leadership and contributions to corporate governance and institutional development.

Takang received the distinction at ICSAN’s 2026 Annual Conference, Awards and Dinner in Lagos, held as part of the institute’s Diamond Jubilee celebration.

The honorary fellowship is among the highest distinctions awarded by ICSAN and is reserved for individuals whose careers demonstrate exceptional leadership, professional excellence, integrity and commitment to good governance, accountability, transparency and effective institutional management.

Reacting to the recognition, Takang expressed gratitude and described the honour as a call to greater responsibility in promoting sound corporate governance and strengthening public institutions.

He said the award reinforced his conviction that strong institutions, accountability, transparency and effective leadership were essential to sustainable economic development.

According to him, these principles remain central to MOFI’s efforts to improve the management of the Federal Government’s investments and assets, enhance their value and ensure that Nigerians derive greater benefits from public investments.

Takang highlighted initiatives such as the MOFI Corporate Governance Forum and the Corporate Governance Scorecard as part of the organisation’s efforts to promote accountability, strengthen governance practices and improve institutional performance.

MOFI, which manages the Federal Government’s investments in commercial enterprises and other strategic assets, has been pursuing measures to enhance the governance and value of public assets as part of broader efforts to improve returns on government investments.

The MOFI chief executive said the recognition further strengthened his commitment to advancing these objectives and promoting governance standards capable of supporting long-term economic growth.

Takang also expressed appreciation for sharing the distinction with three prominent Nigerians whose contributions span traditional leadership, finance, business and corporate governance.

They include His Highness Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, CON, the Emir of Kano; Mr. Emmanuel Ikazoboh, former Group Chairman of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated and current Chairman of Dangote Cement Plc; and Professor Fabian Ajogwu, OFR, SAN, Professor of Corporate Governance at Lagos Business School and founder of the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria.

He described the opportunity to share the honour with the three distinguished personalities as particularly meaningful, given their respective contributions to public service, business leadership, financial management and corporate governance.

The recognition comes amid growing emphasis on transparency, accountability and effective management of public assets in Nigeria, with institutions such as MOFI expected to play a critical role in improving the performance of government investments.

ICSAN’s Diamond Jubilee celebration also provided a platform to recognise individuals whose professional accomplishments and leadership reflect the institute’s commitment to advancing governance, corporate administration and institutional effectiveness in Nigeria.

Takang’s fellowship adds to the professional recognition of his work at MOFI, where efforts to strengthen corporate governance and improve the management of government-owned assets remain central to the organisation’s mandate.
