  • It is fitted with a PHEV powertrain featuring a quad-motor 4WD system.

Mitsubishi might be busy rebadging Renault models in Europe, but things are different back home. At the Japan Mobility Show, it introduced an electrified SUV concept that mixes off-road grit with a lounge-like interior and a matching trailer for camping.

Furthermore, the company has unveiled an updated version of the Delica D:5 minivan, along the new generation of the Delica Mini kei car.

The Elevance concept is a plug-in hybrid SUV with modern styling and a three-row interior. While the company didn’t mention anything about production, if you look past futuristic styling cues like the extended greenhouse and the suicide doors, the concept could evolve into (or inspire) a successor for the aging Pajero Sport.

The Elevance is inspired by the theme of a “Luxe Adventurer”, incorporating the latest evolution of the Dynamic Shield design language. It features split headlights with slender DRLs and a semi-grille-less look.

Another highlight is the capsule-style greenhouse enclosed by the sculpted rear fenders that have a floating design. The slim taillights extend into the C-pillars for a sportier stance, and are connected by a full-width LED bar.

The interior has a three-row six-seater configuration and a completely flat floor. The front seats can face rearwards, creating a cosy living room. The dashboard has a clean design and is wrapped in the same material with the seats.

On top of it there is a pillar-to-pillar screen layout comprising three displays, with a fourth one mounted on he futuristic steering wheel. A rotary dial on the center console provides access to drive modes (Eco, Auto, Tarmac, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Power), although the AI Co-Driver can help recommend the most fitting option based on the conditions.

Plug-In Hybrid Setup

The electrified powertrain comprises a combustion engine of unknown capacity that runs on carbon-neutral fuels, and quad electric motors offering 4WD capabilities in combination with the brand’s Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system. There is also a “large-capacity” battery pack providing enough power for luxurious glamping retreats.

While Mitsubishi hasn’t revealed output figures, it promises “exhilarating performance” and comfortable driving “from urban streets to off-road adventures”.

The concept is paired with a teardrop trailer that has a similarly rugged stance with large wheels and a generous ground clearance. Inside, there is a large double bed, storage compartments, a small kitchen, ambient lighting with a faint sci-fi edge, and even a shower enclosure.

A Revamped Delica Lineup

Mitsubishi’s display will also feature the new generation of the Delica Mini kei cars, alongside an upgraded version of the Delica D:5 minivan. The latter gains subtle exterior updates including a sharper grille and a heavier dose of plastic cladding, as well as more tech and fresh upholstery options inside the cabin.

More importantly, it is now equipped with the S-AWC technology offering driving modes for various road surfaces, and benefits from enhanced driver assistance features.
